Mack Trucks, Inc. (Mack) is recalling certain 2022-2023 LR battery electric trucks. The rivnut threaded inserts inside the high-voltage battery may be over-tightened and break, which could result in a short circuit.

Consequence

An electrical short circuit increases the risk of a fire.

Remedy

Dealers will replace the batteries, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed November 1, 2023. Owners may contact Mack customer service at 1-800-866-1177. Mack's number for this recall is SC0447.

Electrical system: Wiring: Relays/solenoids06/04/202323V402000

Mack Trucks, Inc. (Mack) is recalling certain 2019-2023 LR battery electric trucks. The power cables that connect to the windscreen heater relay may have a loose connection and cause the relay to fail.

Consequence

A relay that fails in the closed position will continue to power the cabin heater, overheating the relay and increasing the risk of a fire.

Remedy

Dealers will tighten the power cable to relay connection, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed August 4, 2023. Owners may contact Mack's customer service at 1-800-866-1177. Mack's number for this recall is SCC0444.

Electrical system: Propulsion system: Traction battery: Thermal management: Fluid/coolant04/19/202323V281000

Mack Trucks, Inc. (Mack) is recalling certain 2022-2023 LR Battery Electric vehicles. The coolant line in the high voltage battery pack may not be fully seated and locked, which can result in the loss of coolant and an electrical short circuit.

Consequence

A battery short circuit increases the risk of a fire.

Remedy

Volvo Trucks will work with the battery manufacturer Akasol to inspect and replace the batteries, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed June 16, 2023. Owners may contact Mack's customer service at 1-800-866-1177. Mack's number for this recall is SC0442.

Mack Trucks, Inc. (Mack) is recalling certain 2022-2025 Mack LRBE trucks. The high voltage batteries may have loose hardware that can fall inside the battery pack and create a short circuit.

Consequence

A short circuit increases the risk of a fire.

Remedy

Dealers will replace the batteries, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 24, 2025. Owner notification letters will be mailed on or before August 25, 2025, for the additional vehicles added on July 22, 2025. Owners may contact Mack's customer service at 1-800-866-1177. Mack Trucks, Inc. (Mack) is recalling certain 2019 and 2021-2023 LRBE battery electric trucks. The cabin heater relay may fail, causing the coolant heater to overheat.

Consequence

A coolant heater that overheats can increase the risk of fire.

Remedy

Dealers will update the software for the Hybrid Powertrain Control Unit and Instrument Cluster, and install replacement relays, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 16, 2023.
