International Motors, LLC (International) is recalling certain 2026-2027 IC Bus CESB school buses. The retractors may not lock, preventing the wheelchair from being properly secured.
Consequence
An unsecured wheelchair can move during transit, increasing the risk of injury.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect and replace the retractors as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed February 16, 2026. International Motors, LLC (International) is recalling certain 2023-2027 IC Bus CESB school buses. While carrying the maximum number of occupants, the bus may exceed Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) when the fuel tank and fluid reservoirs are full.
Consequence
An incorrect GVWR may lead to unintentionally overloading the bus, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect and repair suspension as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed May 27, 2026. Owners may contact International customer service at 1-800-448-7825. International's number for this recall is 25523.

As such these vehicle fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 221, "School Bus Body Joint Strength."

The body panels may separate during a crash, reducing structural integrity and increasing the risk of injury.
